For decades, Ouellet Wood Shavings thrived on hands-on expertise, supplying high-quality bedding to farms and equestrian centers throughout Eastern Canada. But as demand rose and reliable staff became harder to find, manual operations began to limit their growth and efficiency. The third generation’s focus was clear: modernize, make work safer, and position the company for long-term success.
Partnering with Premier Tech, Ouellet implemented the VP-415 high-speed compression baler and the AR-220 robotic palletizer—a four-station system that dramatically increased throughput. Automation not only improved productivity and consistency, but also made daily tasks far less physically demanding for team members.
Production can now ramp up flexibly, running around the clock if needed. System safety is robust, and the technical support, including accessible 24-hour service, means that most issues are solved quickly, often by Ouellet’s own trained staff. The result is a smoother operation, higher product quality, and the ability to reach new heights—delivering millions of high-quality animal bedding bags every year.
